First day out on a trip to Skye and one of the three control knobs on the gas hob is stuck. Can‘t push it down at all. Was working two weeks ago. Corrosion? What oil to release it do you think?

Thanks for any ideas 44517B12-075B-4FFC-9A57-D767FEF37C2E.jpeg

I would not advise using anything on a gas tap unless you are going to take it apart and service it. there should be nothing on the barrel apart from LPG rated gas tap grease, I use the same on the niting plate too. if it has stuck it is likely something has spilled onto it and the spindle I would advise having it serviced by a Gas Safe engineer

Wise and safe advice thanks ex-gasman. Looks like a two burner holiday then. Still there’s always the BBQ!

I've heard of this problem before. The cause of the problem was attributed to cleaning around the control knobs with washing-up liquid....which is highly corrosive.

Can't remember how the problem was resolved. Perhaps spraying around the spindle with penetrating oil and leaving to soak may help.

Edit: suggest you take the advice by the Ex-Gasman.
