We've been out on our Van for 5 weeks now and last night we had to accept a steep left side down overnight, this morning when we woke the fridge freezer had leaked water. Now the thing won't work on Gas. I can feel heat coming from the upper outlet vent so it feels like the gas has ignited but It has completely stopped cooling.
I have a problem that my wife's medication has to be kept cool.

seriously need your help guys.

The Model number is RMD8505

I suspect that due to the incline, the fridge has ceased to work efficiently, with the ice from the fins melting and running past the drain hole, and down the back wall to the floor of the fridge. Once level, the refrigerant fluid should settle allowing the fridge to work efficiently again.

How are things this morning budgie348?

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Ours did this last year in France, took 3 or 4 days to get back to normal.
If freezer is still working like ours was use things from that too keep fridge as cold as you can. Wrap the meds in tin foil to keep them chilled.
Ours did start to work again once the gas/refridgerant started to curculate again

Thanks all, this morning I have checked the gas and the burner is alight but the fridge and freezer are still not working. time to dump contents of both and wait for a couple of days.

Are you in a position to drive the vehicle for a few miles? My fridge came to life again after a few bumps in the road! No promises though!

Buy a small 12v cooler box to keep the medication in.

As I understand it (and am quite likely wrong), when in gas mode a small flame plays over a small section of the refrigerants pipework circuit. As the flame burns 'vertically' if you put the MH on an angle then the flame will cease to play over the area of the refrigerants pipework....hence the fridge 'stops' working. On our 3 fuel fridge we've found that it will go from ambient to cold much much quicker when operated electrically as opposed to gas. This is why we turn it on (EHU) half a day or so before we set off, though having said that we also find that the fridge cools even faster when on DC and travelling.......so maybe a short drive out somewhere might be useful!
As an aside to this has anyone ever used or see reasons as to why not to use a 240v domestic (not Dometic !!) fridge in a MH....do they work OK in the environment and driven off an invertor??
