We may need a bit more detail to help. Is it located on the wind out awning or free standing. Using legs on the van side or suckers, make and model of van and awning may also help.
Cheers
Tents are finicky beasts. Small changes in ground level, or in this case, the height of your awning rail, can make large differences to geometry. I had an Outdoor Revolution awning that was very flappy against the side of the van, even with everything cinched in. I swapped it for Vango (for other reasons) and it seems to be much more tolerant and easier to get relatively taught canvas with minimal gaps.
