We have an under the counter domestic fridge in our 2008 Cheyenne. It is to working on gas. The ignition light flashes but the ignition doesn’t ‘click’. Could it be a fuse? Or any ideas. We are in a car park in Lincolnshire so no ‘tackle’ to fix it.

Normally the switch flashes as each click/spark occurs? Didn't know one could work without the other? Certianly on my old system the switch would not flash until i sorted the problem that was preventing the spark - in my case insufficient 12v supply (corroded cable junction). Access back of fridge and you should be able to view the spark or hear it better. A toothbrush across the burner and ignitor can help if dirt is your problem. Rare for the electrode to move too far from the burner but if it did twist in the mount and the gap became too big - no click.

Depending on which model fridge you have it could be that the ignition spark ground wire that connects to the gas burner is corroded and need its terminal cleaning.

Thanks we have tried cleaning it with a toothbrush. We’re going to Peterborough tomorrow to the show, so maybe there will be a domestic engineer, I seem to think I’ve seen one before. I’m beginning to hate this van, but it will be our last and we don’t want to trade it in for just a couple of years motorhoming .

Dometic are not on the exhibitors list for that show (although the may be there) but Direct Motorhome Services (DMS) are listed as being there and perhaps they may be able to help.

Just to let you know, the hubby found a pair of pliers, as you do, took the spade off and cleaned it and… hey presto we have a working fridge. So steak pie, gammon, sirloin with yoghurt and raspberries is no longer on the menu for afternoon tea… thank you, thank you, thank you…
