Hi Everyone,
do you need a dog passport to go to France, if so where do you get them from. Thanking you in advance.

You will need a medical health certificate from your vet.

You should be able to get a pet passport whilst in Europe

Hi Everyone,

1st thing needed is a rabies vaccination.
Then a minimum wait of 28 days I believe before travel.
Then get an AHC no more then 10 days before travel.

Depending where you live / travelling from there are various options and costs associated with getting the AHC.

1. First you need to have your dog microchipped if he/she isn't already.
2. Then it's rabies jab time - it can be done by any vet so ring around as the cost can vary between £50-£70
3. You then have to wait 21 days (day of jab not included) before you can actually travel to the EU with your pet.
4. You'll need to get an Animal Health Certificate, these can be expensive at a lot of vets so people tend to use Abbeywell vets at Folkestone who charge £99 - you let them know 10 days before when you need it and provide the info requested (they have full details on their site).
5. Go to the vet to get your dog scanned and pick up the AHC.
6. You now have 10 days from the date of issue of the AHC to travel out from the UK and a maximum of 4 months away.
7. Whilst away get your dog an EU passport - various threads about this and where to go as some vets in France won't do it and others charge the earth!
