Saw yesterday - genuine display in local B&M store … I’m a bit gobsmacked at the choices

Do they come all the way from Uruguay? That would explain the price rise :giggle:

I went for a visit to a "tinned pie factory" when I was an apprentice, back in the 70's. The "prime beef" was shipped, frozen in cardboard boxes from Botswana. When the guy Stanley knifed the packaging off the blocks of "beef" there were tufts of hair poking out of the frozen mess. I never did find out if the used cardboard packaging was later included in the pastry topping, but I had my suspicions !

We always used to keep one in the van for emergencies
Balti was my favourite 👍

I can't say I've ever tried one. But going by the comments and the price I won't lol

Fray Bentos Steak and kidney pie was a basic staple food for me in the 80's !
It remains the upper extent of my culinary expertise.

Then I moved to Hong Kong and shared a flat with a head chief of one of the hotels and for two years ate like a king. After that I always made sure my flat mates were cooks up until I got married!
(I'm still banned from the kitchen, as nothing I make is deemed as edible by anyone other than me)

I tried one for a laugh last year, lets just say it was an experience I wouldn't want to repeat.
Next on my list is a Pot Noodle, I am told the Chicken Curry one is best:unsure:
Then just to wind up the Mrs, Heinz Toast Toppers in small tins, remember them?:giggle:

Don't you go dissing pot noodles now

Those are an excellent convenience.

And p.s the sticky rib ones are the best

Quite a few 'I hate them' but haven't tried them - it's an iconic British brand so we should be right behind them... (5%)

Pot noodle sandwich after a night in the pub . Mmmmmmmm yummmy .
That was some years ago though .

I used to love Fray Bentos tinned chicken and mushroom pie. I wonder why they stopped doing them?

S'ppose I should add Pot Noodles to my bucket list 🤔.

Daughter bought me one for Christmas, too small for a wheel chock so not sure what to do with it.
