With diagnostics, the engine ECU reports that it can not talk to the gearbox and thus when the ignition is turn on the display shows all sorts of gearbox related faults (eg hill start not available)

Is it possiible to reset the gearbox ECU (like we could with the older airbag ECU), or does the vehicle need a replacement gearbox ECU?

And, if so, how much are they?

You can use an OBD2 reader to clear the faults. But if there's no communication, then the faults will immediately reappear.

Sure if it's a 2022 it's under warranty let Fiat sort it out.

When my 2019 Comfortmatic reported a similar fault it was a wiring problem. A part of the wiring harness had chaffed and a of wire had broken. You could go round in circles for a long time trying to track down such a fault. A good Fiat Professional garage like Adams Morey Portsmouth is probably your best option. If your warranty has recently run out you may get some sympathy from a good Fiat Professional, no harm in asking.

They are. (or not.)

They took it to a Fiat Professional who will look at sometime, whenever, when they have the engineer free - and he is not on holiday for two weeks!

"No, Sir. You can not get it done until Fiat have approved it."

Sounds very plausable.

How long did it take to get if fixed?

Vehicle delivered to Adams Morey Portsmouth on a Friday, the Workshop Manager chose to work on it himself over the weekend. I picked it up on the Tuesday because I was busy on the Monday. I think it was originally scheduled for the workshop on the Thursday so it would have been just over a week in the normal run of things.

Thanks for the info.

Workshop managers round here don't seem that keen. ☹️
