Do we still have airshows?

I have just remembered there is a Britstops listed at East Kirkby. After being there for a night taxi run of the Lancaster Just Jane it was a bit spooky.

Staying at Uphill Wharf for this one - apparently aircraft use the tower above the campsite as their turning marker at about the same height.

Anywhere from Uphill to Knightstone Island and you’ll see everything. Most of the aircraft fly in from the Uphill end, then go up and down the length of the beach. Best overall position is anywhere near The Tropicana.

Red Arrows usually surprise everyone by flying in from behind the crowd.

It’s held the same weekend as The Armed Forces Day, so Beach Lawns are full of displays.

It’s a great day…..fingers crossed for good weather. I’ve only ever known one year where the cloud was too low for the displays.

Apparently, because the displays are over the sea the display restrictions are less. Not sure if that’s true, but there are lots of aircraft flying very low. (y)

There's a seaplane airshow at Biscarosse, on the coast just south of Bordeaux, on 28/29 May 2022. There's a seaplane (=hydravion) museum in Biscarosse. Google Meeting Hydraviation for details. Good idea to bring your surfboard too.

In case anyone is thinking of coming……..

Catalina 'Miss Pickup' based at Duxford is on her way for water ops and displaying at the weekend. Here's hoping she doesn't get stuck on the water there....!

The reason I have a motorhome is that I can't afford to buy and convert a Catalina :-)
