Our gas locker takes two x 6kg Calor ok but I have bought a larger Spanish bottle which does fit the locker. However, the gas coupling is higher than the inlet to the regulator on the bulkhead.
The gas connection to the bottle is a bayonet type which clips down onto the bottle as opposed to a side outlet to the bottle like a Calor.
I am wondering if the fact that the bayonet clips vertically onto the bottle will help stop any oils leaving the bottle?
Also, if I make sure the pigtail goes up a fair bit before descending to the regulator will that stop oils seeping into the regulator?
Or do I need a filter? That will be a tight fit but not impossible.

Thanks

When I fitted larger bottles my regulator was only a little higher than the bottle top. I fitted a filter and it did intercept oily residues which would otherwise have got into the regulator. My regulator has not failed but without the filter it might have done.
