Another in the series of disused railway lines.
This is a branch line of the vennbahn that runs to Trois Ponts and we started it from Malmedy where there is an aire for 7 euros and 50 cents for 100 litres of water and 50 cents for an unknown amount of electricity.
The path is next door and parking for 25+ and CCTV in area. Bus station next door.
You can (we will over next couple of days) cycle the other direction to Germany.
It was about 15 Kms to Trois Ponts with just a couple of bridges to go over and 2 tunnels one of which was quite a long one. There was a very small gradient all the time and rarely flat but tiny tiny gradient. No need to come out of eco setting. Cuttings and embankments. Because we are here in March snow was visible on hills over the valley and it was a balmy 3 degrees and humidity between moist and soaking through clothes now which saw us bail out on the 2nd part today.
Completely tarmacked with only an odd root but not worth worrying about. No leaves on trees gave us valley views all over.
Very pleasant
Will stick link in to the other disused railway lines.

It looks like 2 days of snow so legging it to Luxembourg to campsite with indoor pool and sauna and we think free transport in Luxembourg then the vennbahn mixed with this one en route to Aachen

Aye. Snow threatening here in Scotland but so far bright and sunny with just a bitter cold wind to moan about.
Sauna? That sounds better!

Thanks Suavecarve, very helpful as always. Have you done any cycling on traffic free routes in Sweden or Norway? We've done bits of the Gota Kanal and a forestry trail from Karlstad but are looking for others.
Any advice welcome.

We feel as we have today !!!

But no.

I m very much a Francophile mainly

50 cents gets you 24 hours of electricity 🔌 at 1kw.
It would be rude to refuse that price.
Wife sent out to hook up
Correction 50 cents still only gets you an amount and probably 2 hours.
Wife sent out to bring in leccy lead

So sorry to see that nasty rash on your neck , you need some cream on that ……… Up The Boro !😂🤣😂

Weather was better today and we cycled a bit of the vennbahn which crosses this railway line so we went for it on top of our vennbahn cycle. It was from Waimes to Malmedy a distance of 9 Kms both ways.
Unfortunately what we didn't tell the wife was we could freewheel at 30kph+ all the way to Malmedy. She was not happy knowing we had to go back up.
The route follows a fast flowing meandering river which covers the amount of views you get. No bridges or tunnels. Won't be on our list of must do again. Completely different to the vennbahn.
Carrefour at Malmedy provided roast chicken and potatoes for lunch.
Definite signs of beaver lodges though.
