Dipstick Stuck!

Hi All,
Thank you all that suggested 'Bent Pipe'!
Having removed lots of Engine stuff top side I got my Borescope to get this shot:

Now it is not quite like it looks as the kink was not caused by pipe shown.
There's a bracket that holds the sheath in place and some 'Dipstick' put it on the wrong way round and crushed the pipe:

Having got no joy from Fiat I thought I'd get the Sheath out. I did make a vid of it with Hero Cam but it's crap as the sun is shining through bay and you see n hear nowt!.

So, with a bit of Heat and controlled easing out of the kink - All is well.

I am with fully operational Dipstick IN / OUT smooth as American Pie. :giggle:

I hope you all enjoyed the Kinky Dipstick Sheath Saga.

Thanks for all your help

Yay
Was it roughly 11inches down ????

Hi All,
Thanks for the
So the oil level hasn't been checked since the 'dipstick' refitted the bracket.....
That is a very GOOD point! Luckily I did my Maths on this. When I did the service 2018 I put in 6 Litres. I did have a tiny Sump leak (now fixed).
Did 2500 Miles 2018 to Service YESTERDAY.
I measured the Oil Dump inc. Filter and it came to 5.9Litres.
Now with Dipstick and full oil load 6 litres it is about 1cm less than MAX on Dipstick.....
So, all looking good.
If your Dipstick is stuck then just look up Oil Capacity and put that in and you should be good to go... unless you are leaking oil big time and then it's a bit of guesswork.
Make sure you don't OVERFILL if you're 'topping up' with no dipstick!

My Dipstick penetrated fully, but on withdrawl the sheath demanded I stop 11 inches from full withdrawl. It was like it was not satisfied with my constant pushing and pulling, and needed to grip me in for more!

Hi All,
I now have another PROBLEM!
'Pissing Water'...
Please Admin advise if I should start a new thread on this subject?

It is normal etiquette to start a new thread for a different query as it makes the question and replies more searchable for visitors

It is just that when doing my Dipstick Stuff I found a real 'Bodge Job' on a part 'fix' more to follow in new POST

Gosh, this thread need only have been less than one page long if you'd taken the initial advice to remove the dipstick tube!

Wouldn't have been half as entertaining though :D2
