Hi Everyone I’m now in France at a Super U Supermarket I’m thinking of buying some diesel here, I went to the pumps and saw thsee two pumps they both seem to supply the same go diesel so which pump should I use, the locals seem to be using the one with the three nozzles on which is what I think I should use, am I correct in that assumption?. Best Wishes Tony.

One looks like card pay the other whatever you want to use

I always check the prices listed on entry..........................go for the cheapest (although sometimes the extra special diesel) and make sure that shows up when you lift the pump out.
Don't worry you'll soon get used to it and wonder what the fuss was about.
Our first peage was a real panic.....................using a card is the easiest but it didn't ask for any pin...........just takes the money thank you very much

I use Red.... Much better.

Are you actually going to buy some or are we just going to have a debate on which pump looks the best. Most people just put in the cheapest they can find but don't fill up with the red stuff.

As said single pumps normally HGV, sometimes nozels are bigger but often the same size but the flow rate is much higher. If you do fill at one take it easy unless you like diesel on your boots & trousers.

No different to the UK.

Good advice, flow rate can be MUCH higher, seconds to fill rather than minutes... it's a mistake you only make once ;)

Hi Everyone I’m now in France

Never mind the Diesel - Congratulations you've made it. A whole new world opens up. All your worries gone.

Apart from a bit of diesel but that's solved by now.

Like the UK, try not to fill on motorways.

Hi Lenny Lol I’m laughing at myself, at the moment I’m in an Aire in Josselin, got here when it was dark so don’t know what it is like but looks ok. I think I’ll start another thread from the start as it’s fairly amusing somewhat.
Best Wishes Tony

Well done Tony, there's no looking back now.:clap2::party::xThumb:

Watch out for the 10th .. Best thing to do will be fill up with Diesel, Goto the Supermarket and stock up with food and find a nice Aire and stay put until its over.

In the UK often if you go to the truck pump (which dispenses really fast) you have to take your payment card to the cashier first.
Its apparently because foriegn trucks put £500 of diesel in then try to pay with some obscure payment card that they don’t accept.
(I used to have a small truck and got so fed up with it I used to use the car pumps if I could)

Are you heading for Carnac ? As you head down the coast don't miss the U boat pens at St Nazaire.

We had to use the truck pump most times, but very occasionally in France & Belgium they would refuse us fuel as we were not a truck!

I usually use the truck pump otherwise I am stood there for ages waiting till its full :( still, only have to do it every thousand miles. :) also they dont stop every 99 litres.

I can relate to that - I once made the mistake and ended up with diesel everywhere.

I should have explained, with the trailer we were nearly 44 feet long, so couldn't exit the car pumps at some fuel stations, so had to use the truck pumps (y)

My 7.5 ton car transporter with a trailer on must have been over 40 foot , empty it was a doddle
With a car on the elevated top deck not so.
I went through a macdonalds drive through once (empty) and took one of their hanging baskets out with me :-(
