Can someone give me info on diesel heaters please the only ones I know of are space heaters and I don’t think they are what is meant

That's my intention, I bought a variable Y valve so that I can switch from truma to diesel heater. I should say that I bought everything two years ago but because of winter Covid restrictions I've not yet got around to fitting anything.
Worth noting the 5kw diesel heater uses 85mm duct, may need a adapter to a 60-65 duct.

Nobody laugh but my plan is to mount my heater plus pump and tank inside my Fiamma ultrabox, hopefully to keep any diesel smell outside. Its big enough to add a slatted shelf above to keep ski boots warm. I'm going to duct the hot air in through the back of the van straight into the space below the bed and into the truma ducting.

Yes I've bought an 80/80/65 Y so I can send some air into the truma ducting and some to an independent outlet.
Or maybe it's a 75/75/60🙄 it's been in a box for two years 😎

Interesting idea, why not, I look forward to your thread. (y)

I can't see why it won't work? I have bikes on the back in the summer so only plan to fit the ultrabox in the winter. I've bought a 22litre outboard tank for the fuel which should run the heater for quite a while 😉. I've also got a 100mm yacht deck fitting to fit to the back wall of the van which I can unscrew to run the ducting and the power cable through.

The image of the kit of parts is the same, although it would remain to be seen what actually arrives, but for certain it will not be kosher Planar heater for than money, nor will it be 8Kw as you know.

Ignore the 8, it’s a 5 in disguise of course, there is something else to look out for when you chose one.

Not just by clicking back and forth on my phone. Is it nothing except the supplier name (both in Walsall by the way)?

They are two distinctive models, one works better than the other, the clue is in the controller symbols. The second one is the one to go for. And mother board is diferent on the first, it will only work with that type of controller.

Picture doesn't mean anything, that last one I bought showed the better controller but it had the more basic one. It also came from Walsall, one supplier with a dozen different ebay id's, I suspect.

Better off buying via Amazon, it might cost another tenner but if it's not what you ordered it can go straight back with NO fuss.

Like the controller used in the aussie you tube video, looks like a mobile phone casing, very neat indeed.
Checked out The Afterburner upgrade from Aussie Ray, apparently he is not offering shipment to The UK at present, dont want to buy The UK rip off one, though I haven't even done a search for it yet, maybe listed under "C..'Ts"as it should be:giggle:

They are only sold by 3rd party sellers on Amazon I had a bit of hassle returning a faulty one seller wouldn't pay return carriage cost. I got onto Amazon they gave me a credit to cover the carriage. So alll OK in the end but nothing like as easy as when items are supplied by Amazon.

Can the hot air ducting be connected into the Truma ducting ?
Yes I have, heater outlet goes through 75mm tee piece and then I fitted 75 to 60 reducer and into original pipes.
I found it did work until I took the pipes off boiler and linked them together.
Its not brilliant at reaching the bathroom but some heat gets there.

I've purchased and fitted both types now. The standard type, I fitted to my classic VW camper using one of the turrets (pretty straightforward with a decent hole saw and just the relatively thin steel floor to get through.
The 2nd was an all in one which I've set up to heat an out building. I wanted the unit sited externally so I didn't need to worry about exhaust gases or noise, and have ducted the blown air through the wall and also taken a feed for the intake of the blown air from inside so the air is essentially recycled. This both speeds up the warming process and reduces fuel consumption. I found a storage box from one of the DIY sheds which suits the unit perfectly and it's got a decent lid so completely weather proof. I'm still looking at options for a permanent solution for a plinth. I've got an external 230v power source so just use a battery charger connected to an old battery for power. 3rd picture taken without heater cover on during testing.
