Hiya
Does anyone know why a diesel heater would show a fault of under voltage. It's been working well. It had new leisure batteries 4 weeks ago and no problem with voltage.
👍

Turn everything off and measure battery voltage directly. Just because they are new doesn't mean they haven't depleted due to faulty charger or blown fuse from solar etc.....

Diesel heaters can take up to 10 amps as they start up and reach temperature.
How are you recharging the batteries ? you might not be putting enough back in to compensate for what you have used..

If it's a Chinese diesel heater, then the first thing I do is change both the positive and negative power cables from the battery to the heater to 4mm2 if it is a short cable run or 6mm2 if it's a longer cable run as the original power cable are undersize for the amps use in the start-up phase.

if its a china heater1st check what fault code you have on the screen .thats what it is for .then take it from there.or let us know hear what code is up......good luck

Says it was working well previously, so cable size is unlikely to be the issue ?
Maybe recheck your terminations to the new battery ?
Take a voltage reading from the new battery at rest and also might be worth putting a multimeter on the battery as you start the heater up to see if the battery is capable of delivering the amps ?

If off grid I always have the engine running when I get the diesel heater going for 5 minutes

Cables to the heater probably undersize and you are getting a volt drop especially if you used the cables supplied with the heater.
You beet me to it :ROFLMAO: I was going to say that :crying:he should be using m 8 cable that always sorts out that problem

It will probably be E01 if it under voltage

It’s the voltage at the heater under load during start-up that is critical anything below 11 volts will give problems (by running the engine you are upping the supply to 14volts so it will start up)
Finding the Voltage drops under load is the name of the game here usually down to corroded terminals which will be warm/hot when felt (be careful not to hurt yourself) repair, replace, upgrade the supply wiring as others have said 8mm better than 6mm DON’T forget the Earth Negative side is just as important and often neglected.
I’ve sorted loads by paying attention to these points.
