Hi Everyone planning ferry crossing Newhaven to Dieppe and then travelling through France to Benidorm.

Firstly, would welcome any advice on the ideal road routes from Dieppe to Benidorm. Am retired so time not a major issue, hence happy to avoid expensive motorway tolls where humanly possible?

Secondly, recommend Aires or camping sites on route?

Like to thank you in advance for any advice or links to assist me in a less stressful journey as possible.

I’ve not used, or even looked at this, but I see it is often mentioned when answering similar questions. It may help you.

HERE

My route is a bit dated now but will help give an idea.
You dont state what time of year when you are travelling, that can make a difference.
ie in summer places / aires can be bussier. In winter there can be no water.
Winter = darker nights so maybe less travelling time..

There are quite a few apps and facebook groups now that can be used to track down even more stopovers.

We have just arrived in Villajoyosa which is only a few miles from Benidorm and left Dieppe on Thursday morning at 5 am. We travelled to the Camping Car Park site just above Poitiers which was okay, we then travelled to Pamplona and stayed on the Motorhome parking place just outside the town. As my wife was not keen on staying there we set off again at 5 pm and arrived here around 2 pm yesterday. Now set up and have been enjoying the sunshine. Travelling a 1000 miles in 3 days is not for everyone but it was very cold in France and also at Terruel in Spain where it was -6 and foggy.

We travel to Beni 2 to 3 times per year from Calais. We are on the clock (unfortunately) so have to use the quickest (should read most expensive :) ) route down which will be on the Toll roads.

You don't mention how many hours per day that you are comfortable driving, and although i have not done the non toll roads i would assume they are more tiring due to the slower speed/roundabouts/villages etc.

I would recommend Search for sites and Park 4 night, as apps/sites to find places to stop; although i have and do stay in Service station carparks and Supermarket carparks (its an emotive point as some are very against this, but each to their own). Google maps is you best friend in street view to check out possible entrances to Fuel stations etc.

I prefer the west route down - Rouen/Le mans/Bordeaux/Pamplona/Zaragoza......

Best bit of advice i was given before we threw ourselves over the channel - "drive with your bum in the gutter" that way you wont forget what side of the road to drive on or which way round the roundabouts are..... ask me how i know :giggle::LOL:

Get a good sat nav, garmin or other and just put your destination in it and select no tolls… download park 4 night and when you’ve had enough of driving or it’ll get dark in an hour or so just pull in and have a look at the closest Aires and there will be one near you, if you don’t like it go on to the next… it really is easy driving out there, more so then the uk..
have fun…☀️😎

Download the park for night app. Lots of aires showing on there and easy to use and navigate to the aires.
