Always leave booking ferry til last minute. All the ferries first week of may suddenly very expensive or sold out (I've never been on a full one). Anyone know what's going on?

enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
Probably due to the lack of frequent traveller options.

We are returning via this route on Sunday afternoon. It worked out well over £100 saving on Eurotunnel prices. Simple and easy enough to use, however if the difference would have been around £50 or going in the car we would have used the tunnel.

Now saving Tesco tokens and yes we know the multiplication factor has reduced, but as we (as in the royal we) shop there, it makes sense, sort of.

Start of season perhaps? We travelled via N2D a couple of weeks ago and it was by far the cheapest, but it did jump £50 each way when I left it too late (last minute booking) even though the ferry was at 30% capacity.

We often only book a couple of weeks before, I always found Newhaven/Dieppe normally only goes up by 20 or 30 quid if you leave it until the last minute.
Maybe because of the bank holiday & more people traveling.

Two 3 Day weekends in a row with the Coronation bank holiday so not surprised it's busy.

People taking full advantage of 10 days off work but only using 4 days annual leave.

In general, booking as early as possible pays dividends. I have just checked our Brittany Ferries bookings Portsmouth/Caen return for May/June We paid £516 booked last October. The price today would be £675. I know lots on here would not pay even the £516 but it takes us to where we want to be when we want to be there. For us travelling from Scotland Portsmouth is a no brainer.

I was wondering why a 4 Bunk Bed inside cabin was £24 outward bound from Newhaven-Dieppe, yet over twice as much coming home Dieppe-Newhaven £55 in Late May, coming home a month later in June?
