So, was considering multiecuscan for the peugeot boxer base and looking at Gendan, but would ideally also like to be able to read daughters Punto and Suzuki vitara and then my vw car too. Anyone know of something able to do all that or are they all likely to be seperate tools?

It won’t do what a Multiecuscan will do,but it will posit the code that you can google to identify fault, and then you can clear it.

I've heard good things about the Topdon ArtiDiag800BT, especially for the Relay/Boxer. Not bought one yet though.

I got a £10 WiFi one that connects to the phone from eBay. Reads codes on all the cars I have tried so far and turns off engine lights.

Generally the cheaper multi-purpose readers are unable to do much other than read and clear code won't align new modules or re align existing,or give much in the way of live data many won't see certain modules at all.Multiscan for the van ,universal for the cars ?

I have an iCarSoft v2. You can download diagnostics for up to 10 vehicles. So it reads the Sprinter based Frankia, Audi, Volvo, Skoda and Ford for us.

I would start by buying a cheap, small, easy to use unit, then see if you have a need to progress from there.
That is what I have done and my cheapy from Gendan has worked on the vehicles I’ve tried so far, and has given me enough info to sort any issues that have appeared. I can’t see any point in having hundreds tied into something that you may not need, or need a laptop that you won’t have with you whilst travelling.
