When I was looking at ferry prices I rang DFDS and spoke to someone from Newcastle (always makes me feel better). They said ferries are cheaper on Tuesdays and if you join the mailing list you will get a discount code in October. Two weeks ago I got an email saying the discount code would come soon - keep a look out. It has not arrived yet. Question is as the caravan club is quite a good discount - should I bother waiting for DFDS? The prices for 2024 are creeping up (Newcastle - Amsterdam) any experience out there?

I'm looking at making a booking for next April and it's coming in at £300 single trip out no food, doesn't make any difference which day I choose, and the CAMC give 10% discount, so £270 single trip.

Don't know anything about further discount in October, I haven't received an email as such

Never heard of email discount & we have used Dfds for years.
however if your over 60 & ring up to book you will get 20% off. Not sure if it applies to all routes but certainly newhaven/dieppe.

Only Newhaven I think.
Yes only Newhaven/Dieppe.

I think it’s referred to as an early bird discount - I have found reference to it for 2022. I suspect the email the call handler referred to is just a heads up. 2 weeks ago the prices were much less than they are now. I should have just booked then!

There was a thread about this a couple of weeks ago. I put details of a discount at post #14.
Dont know if it is still running?

How much cheaper?
Because I've been checking since Chris Laing posted on the 9th September and the price has remained the same.

I haven't booked as of yet as I haven't decided what date to go

I was able to get a return via the caravan club for £570. It’s nearer £800 now. Travelling May 2024 for 3 weeks.

That is good - it’s the additional days driving, fuel and annual leave that puts us off the south coast. Newcastle - Amsterdam cuts all that down.

I never saw my approximate date's any cheaper at all, I wonder if you managed to catch early bird prices like Brittany Ferry's released theirs recently.
I'm going out in April, and coming back in July when the prices do get silly, so thinking of returning via Stena lines which is much cheaper

For us living near Eastbourne it makes perfect sense. It’s our go to boat. Late night ferry out & arrive early next day. Morning ferry back & we are home in 20mins after clearing port. No big queues at check in either.
I sleep on the boat so ready for the day. Wife drinks coffee with brandy & reads all night 🤷🏼. first stop Ambrose area Normally.

I suspect you are right - I should have booked it when I saw it. Didn’t have the annual leave sorted at work at that point. Which is always a gamble.

I've just priced up again, going out April, North Shields to IJmuiden £270 via caravan club, return in July £546 via caravan club, or alternatively, hook of Holland to Harwich, Stena lines, via caravan club £147

Think I'd better book incase the prices increase

I have had an email from DFDS - 20% off but they released it early without the code needed! Followed the link and prices the same. Spoken to them. Next Monday it will go live apparently.

Nedge68 have you received your new email?

I could have got my April 2024 booking £46 cheaper than I've just paid - never mind it's booked now

We travel back to Germany on the 24th October. I used the DFDS website for a quote and it was £1200 return with Commodore Deluxe cabins, priced it with the CMC and got it for £590
I see both ships are heading into dry dock for complete refit in January 2024. Not before time starting to look tired.
I was looking at 2024 prices yesterday but could not find a way to make a booking and get a price. It showed a sailing guide with October but could not work out how to get a quote.
