With Le Shuttle prices going up sharply I'm looking at alternatives
I understand there is a DFDS over 60's discount ? is this on all the crossings or just Newhaven / Dieppe ?
The idea of avoiding M25 and Dover is quite appealing

Just Newhaven-Dieppe and it is for all passengers as long as the lead is over 60 and covers (almost) all aspects of the booking. You have to book by phone Monday to Friday - +44 330 587 8787
So check them out online then book over the phone.

Don’t book online as you won’t get the discount.

P.S. You are ringing a call centre in France (at local call rates and they all speak English) so they keep French business hours i.e they clock off at 16:00 UK time!!

EDIT: Just spotted your home town. You are doing a shorter version of my journey. Easy peasy journey (Though I would love it to be shorter!) I go M40/M25/M23 but sometimes I cut across on the A34 and down to the M3 and Southampton/Portsmouth then M27/A27 to avoid congestion on the M25 (But the A27 can be a pain at the wrong time of day!). You have a Sainsbury's PFS within a couple of hundred yards to refuel the van before you board (and a KFC and McDonalds nearby to refuel you if that suits!)

Are you sure, that number is a UK number. Introduced in March of 2007, an 0330 has specific uses for many different companies and organisations, the benefits and the types of companies using the and why will be outlined here. The number has grown in popularity since then and has been widely adopted by a number of organisations across the UK in order to provide services to their customers. Companies are buying 0330 numbers for a whole host of different reasons – but they are commonly used as the primary customer service helpline contact.

Does it matter? The number works. You are paying local call rates. Those I speak to speak English with a French accent and keep French business hours. I cannot imagine that they commute across from France daily or that DFDS keeps separate call centres in the UK and France etc, etc.

P.S. The number I gave was repeated in the post above. They are the same number.

Yes, 0044 is the code for the UK
