Hello
We purchased the above van from a dealer in December. The graphics had delaminated and the agreement of sale was they would be totally replaced. The job was done last week and the fitter has damaged the paintwork down to the metal with a Stanley knife at most cuts and generally fitted them badly. We have rejected the job. They have come back and said they will repaint the hab door which is the worse area and touch in the rest. My question is, is the van gel coated and is it as easy as touching in ?

Thanks
Andrew

you need to provide better pictures.

You might also want to think about joining the forum properly and getting a wealth of advice and being able to use the search engine.

I replaced all of my graphics, removing them is not an easy job and I would love to know how they propose to paint them.

Sorry the pictures are all zoomed in. The first picture is on the upper side at head height on the MH body just after the drivers door.
The second is on the hab door to the left of the door view glass. Just two to demonstrate the bad fitting and damage. The dealer has the MH and we have sent 12 pictures with issues.

You mention down to the metal and then gel coat. What is the construction?

That is my question I am not sure. On the hab door the cut has gone through the white and into the alloy coloured material beneath. They want to send it to a bodyshop to repaint the whole door but my worry is the match to the rest of the MH..plus how they will repair the marks on the main MH body.

The graphic on the second picture should finish at the glass. It looks like they have attempted a couple of cuts and causing the damage.

So sorry, it really looks a mess from your photos. I hope they sort it for you properly as it seems as if the dealers just tried to do a quick fix and got the trainee salesman to do it instead of someone who knew what they were doing.

I would walk away, there are plenty of vans without bodged graphics to choose from and the market may be on a downward trend soon.

If they think that’s acceptable, I would also worry what else they tried to get away with.

They told me the PDI guy had a go after watching some YouTube videos :-)) we have told them we are rejecting the van based upon the damage done.

We await their reply!!

How old is the van? It looks a botch job to me I think you have to imagine trying to sell it on and how it might affect the value it could be you are better of looking elsewhere.
It does make you wonder how well the pdis are done!

Any business that would allow such a shoddy job to leave with a customer may be difficult to get any money back from if rejected. The visible paint damage is through to the aluminium skin and the apparent blisters behind the graphics are likely corrosion that will be very hard to repair. It will need a bodyshop and a near full respray to do properly and just trying to touch up the damage more akin to putting lipstick on a pig

PDI guy watched a youtube video? So zero prep and wrong tools used plus no proper skills in doing the job. Has devalued the van big time

I cannot understand what the idiot was trying to achieve by cutting round edges with a blade

He purchased it in December so walking away not really an option. I think getting legal advice may be required.
Herald1970 , do you have an add on legal to your insurance?

With the limited information, my opinion is:
Customer: is this the standard of repair I can expect?
Dealer: we've done our best, yes, no.
Customer : are you happy with this repair, because I'm not.
Dealer: yes, no we will try again
Customer: that's fine, but so your aware that, if there is not a substantial level of repair completed, I will need your insurance details so that I can make a claim for the damage to my vehicle

I hope Herald comes back.

But I get more and more frustrated in people joining, asking a question, seek and gain some advice but can't be bothered to sign up and disappear without then coming back and giving the outcome.

it's like the advice you give is worthless and worthless for others who may be in a similar position in due course. Happening more and more and when you think of the price of a motorhome the few quid to join is barely scratching the surface.

Absolutely agree, I don't think they should be allowed to ask anything till they have paid up.
They could still read and see how it works but no posting.
It just wastes everyone's time.
Saying that he maybe back, he seems genuine.
