Dehumidifier?

so, following on from this, who puts a heater on low in the winter? Does it make the condensation worse?

Have used at work after floods etc. If not carefully they can cause laminated surfaces to delaminate and even cause plastered walls to become hollow, drawing the plaster off the wall behind. Use with caution.
Thats because you were probably using an industrial dehumidifier! We use a domestic one on tickover.

No!
Living in the van in winter months condensation is caused by steam from cooking and showers. when the moisture laden air reaches its dew point condensation will form on any cooler surface.
When the van is not being used there is no source of moisture in the air, therefor no condensation.

We’ve used a dehumidifier in our van for 12 years, generally after the van has been used in wet cold conditions and we have been in and out with wet clothes and wet dog. It generally drags 2 gallons of water out of the foam, carpets mattresses then all is good. The upholstery feels lovely and fresh, during winter we lift mattresses and upholstery so that air can circulate under them with none touching the outside walls. We have had condensation under the over cab mattresses as the insulation is different thickness giving cold sections, hence lifting mattresse.

Just to clarify, our dehumidifier does not heat the air, it circulates air in the van, (not drawing air from outside) and we generally use it just for a day or 2 until clicks off at a normal level that is sufficient, and then leave the van with a unibond aero 360.

Yes another use for a dehumidifier is to keep the van dry on those wet days when you cant avoid dragging in moisture from outside. Hang wet clothes in the shower with dehumidifier on, they dry in no time!
