Has anyone had any deadlocks (or hooklocks) fitted in the North West by a fitter that they can recommend? If so, an idea of cost would be useful.

Failing that, we are travelling down to Cornwall in about 3 weeks, and have seen a fitter in Bristol mentioned on the forum in a previous thread, and one in the Exeter area. Any further details on these would be useful.

Many thanks in advance. (y)

Hi there
I highly recommend Ed-Locks, they advertise nationwide fitting .. at home.

I presume they outsource the work to a trusted locksmith nearest to you.

Go for the hooklock, more expensive but improved security.

I have used Ed-Lock twice, each time the work was professional and all mess cleared up, no damage scaratches, very polite and courtious workers ..highly recommended.

Expect about 2hrs work and £270!!.

You can buy and fit yourself and save a bucket load of money (set aside a whole day, lots of swearing, a magnet screw picker up etc)

I'm a .. If It can go wrong, it will - DIYselfer.

I don't think nylon ties and gaffer tape would have worked here, they have even pop rivetted instead of screws ..for extra strength.

Got mine factory fitted (Germany) hook-locks but noticed the inside mechanism is Vanguard UK although the barrels may be German 🤔 and they seem to have a mixture of rivets & splines etc, great job, can't remember how much they were but knowing Malibu there was probably no change from a grand! Lol

The torx bolt holds the plate to the lock body. The rivets hold the plate to the door.
Even if you undo the torx bolt you cannot remove or affect the lock.

Even if it was both torx the lock would have to unlocked and the door open to fiddle with it.

The reason for rivets being used is that the only other way would be to install rivnuts so you could bolt the plate to the door. Thinking about it I cannot see any other method being used for any install to be honest?
