I have installed Victron DCDC charger set up as follows

cable run from cab + _ to the dcdc charger

From dc charger + _ cable to leisure battery

Works all ok

My question is and go easy on me …

I noticed I hsve another two sets of cables attached to leisure battery . One is the leisure power the other I assume is from the van battery as I have a BCA dual charger installed

Is this wiring ok, I am going you install a lithium battery.

If you have a battery to battery charger you must ensure the older style split charge relay is disabled. If a separate relay just unplug the D÷ wire. Bit more complicated with a clever EBL type system. The main thing is only the B2B, Solar or EHU charger is able to charge the leisure battery.

Thanks Lenny really appreciate you taken the time to reply , I will have a look on Google on how to disable . Might be a case of just pulling a fuse out out , fingers crossed .

another silly question is the d+ wire one off the red or black cables coming from the cab battery…. I am ok using a multi meter just point me in the right area and I will potter about trying to find it … thanks again

Another question:
Is the D+ wire one of the red or black cables coming from the cab battery?
No. The D+ wire will be coming from the alternator (almost certainly via some fuses).

It might be coloured yellow (and if you are really lucky, might even have D+ written on it)

I do not know enough about the Orion unit to know how it is activated but I would have expected that the D+ signal could be connected to one of the two green connectors on your top photograph. (see Orion documentation)

You still need to disable the old style split charge relay.

You are confusing me I didn't reply it was 68c .
Anyway what van is it and what electrical system is it?

Thanks Lithiumconvert . The two green connectors are not connected to anything . I will have a look and try and trace the D+ Cable . To be on the safe side I will disable the dcdc charger for now when I am driving to make sure it does not damage the new lithium battery .

It is the split charge relay which you need to disable.

The DC2DC charger will not damage the lithium battery .....
...... but the lithium battery could damage the alternator if the split charge is active.

I guess the Orion is set to use engine shutdown detection rather than D+ because the green connector still has a jumper loop installed.

If there is an existing split charge, and how it is triggered I suspect Lenny will know if you can say what van is it and what electrical system is it?

I think there maybe advice on FB Bailey owners group about disabling the split charge relay. Important to do it or no point in fitting a B2B

If you need to find the D+ look for the cab link it's on all other Baileys so prob on Adamo as well. D+ should be there , you can tap into it to power a normally closed or 5 terminal relay which will isolate your leisure battery from the old split charge influence , leaving the B2B to do its work. Engine off and it re-connects your leisure battery to the habitation circuit. Non ford bailey version shown below, Adamo will look slightly different.

If you need to find the D+ look for this relay/fuse block (image below) it's on all other Baileys so prob on Adamo as well. D+ is the pink/ green cable (centre right) , you can tap into it there . Use it to power a normally closed or 5 terminal relay which will isolate your leisure battery from the old split charge influence , leaving the B2B to do its work. Engine off and it re-connects your leisure battery to the habitation circuit.

thanks sleeveless , I have two spare 5 terminal relays , how would I wire up the relay . lol just spent three hours trying to find it before your post . Will have another go to tommorow , thanks again I have attached a picture of the old dual charger that shows four wires, both pair … one going to cab, and one to leisure battery.

Like this ... Add the relay between the PDU and the leisure battery , it needs to handle about 30 amps . The 3 relays shown at the bottom are soldered onto the PCB in the PDU , diagram is for wiring only.

Adamo cab link bottom left D+ could be the yellow / black at centre or "G" above it, both leading to 6 pin plug top centre left, but would need checking out.
