I don't do much TV watching but just as an experiment I ran a couple of hours of YouTube on maximum quality 2160p (4k) and it used nearly 15Gb. The same on 360p, which was quite watchable on a 24" screen used less than 1Gb. YouTube will go right down to 144p, which is a bit fuzzy on the 24" screen but probably fine on a phone or small tablet which will use even less.

On a 24" screen sitting a couple of metres away, 720p should be plenty. 4k is pointless!

My pc monitor is bigger and it's only 1440p, and I sit way closer and that's plenty sharp enough.

I would not normally consider using 4k on a 24" screen, it was just to see how much data it used.

I think the demographics of this forum means picture quality is down to which glasses your wearing ,
