Data and mobile phone sim in Europe

Hi all, we are off the Belgium and The Netherlands next month ( first time in Europe) and will need a data and phone sim, Can any of you lovely people advise on which are best best value and more importantly give you the best signal

With phone sims now having such good deals for data, getting a purely data sim is actually an expensive option as there's less provision thus less competition to give good prices, so ....

Questions:

• Are you looking for monthly sims (ie no long term contract) so you can just use them purely for your holiday, or are you looking for new ones for your use all the time (ie at home and abroad).
• How long are you planning on being abroad
• How much data will you need for that trip?
• Does your existing phone contract give you any data usage abroad (roaming)?

We already have phone contracts in the Uk, so only when we are in Europe, we need to use data for laptop and iPads .. we will be in Europe in April May September and October

Okay, data I understand now but why aren't your phones usable abroad, ie why do you need a phone sim as well?
