I have a damp of 20% showing on my cheap damp meter on a part of my ceiling so booked it in to have all the vents and skylights re-sealed.
When I picked it up they said bring it back in three months to check it.
As soon as the freeze stopped and it got a little warmer I checked for damp again and it still shows the same % damp in the same places.
Should I wait for it to completely dry out and then check again when its rained again.
It not all the ceiling that shows any signs of moisture in some areas it says 0% so it's not just because it's cold still.
Thanks for your thoughts

Get it in and sorted asap, especially as the longer you wait, the further the damp will migrate and then the roof turns brown.

Good luck 👍🏻

£2500, what did they go for that? Re-sealing roof lights and vents, did they take them all off, remove sealant, put new on and re-fit.

I hope they didn’t just stick some sealant around the existing ones, that would take about an hour.

No they said they removed three sky lights and 1 satellite receiver removed all sealant and refitted also removed the solar panel and re-sealed that it took a week before I got it back

Really expensive though just for that taking off 3 skylights and the sat dish and solar panel. Maybe it’s me but I could do all that in a couple of days max and I’m slow.
There’s plenty on here it would be a days work for them.

If you checked this recently it could be condensation. My van - not used for a month - had visible condensation in some areas but I'm fairly certain when I've had it heated and vented they will disappear.
A couple of years ago in early January a hab check found 30% damp in a couple of areas and remedial action was recommended. This turned out to be condensation and was fine by the time better weather appeared.

Yes it’s difficult these days to get good work at decent prices I fully understand your situation, especially when work needs doing quickly as in your case.
What van do you have.

Thanks for that this is what I was thinking it might be, that's why I asked you guys before calling them.

They did say bring it back in three months for a check over but before waiting that long and possibly still having damp ingress all that time.
