Bailey Advance 66-2
Exp
Since Sept ‘21.
We have a 4 year old Bailey Advance 66-2 which has a minor damp issue, in the bathroom, between the toilet and the back of the van. I’ve been monitoring it with a damp meter since we got the van 18 months ago, and the area has sometimes given a higher reading, but the patch has not got any bigger. Yesterday, after a period of very wet weather, and not having used the van for several weeks, the meter gave a reading lower than it has ever been.

The issue is covered by our warranty, and it’s booked in to a Bailey main dealer in January for repair. Their diagnosis is that there’s rain getting in somehow, and they’re planning to remove and replace the rails on the rear of the van. I’m just wondering whether their diagnosis is correct, given that it gets worse when we’re using the van (including during a really hot and dry month is France last July), and better when we’re not using it. To my mind, this points to an internal problem, probably plumbing-related? I don’t really mind how much the repairs cost, given that it won’t cost me anything, but I do want to be confident that they’re fixing the problem!

Any opinions or suggestions would be very welcome!

Dave.

If you can turn the pump on for 12/24 hours then check your readings 👍That should give an indication if it’s an internal leak. Also if you stayed in it overnight /24 hrs you may hear the pump kick in for a few seconds. That would also point to a leak from pipe work or faulty pump
