Just started!
While trying to pull lighting cable through from above the ceiling I felt damp!

I know I'm going to have to find the source of the damp and prevent further ingress!

Just a couple of questions:
Are there any recommended product like sealing tapes I can use along the seams?
Will the above ceiling damp dry out when we eventually get a good spell of sunshine?
Any other recommendations?

Cheers

John

External seals look in the area roughly where leak is , if the sealant is ild and there are gaps, scrape the old sealant out and insert new ( sikaflex 512 I think) depending on how far the damp has spread you could put a dehudifier on in the van if its practical to use those disposable ones. I have a damp patch in my ceiling at the back of my Autotrail Tracker , which with using the disposable and hot weather , has dried out .

Our van is old at 22 years so I guess leaks are only to be expected!

My skill at applying Sikaflex or any silicone type sealing product usually results in a bit of an unsightly mess - I even manage to get it on my clothes and in my hair :) I recall seeing a tape that would fix a hole in a bucket even when water was gushing out - not sure it would be any good for a motorhome but would probably look better :)

I do have several unused tubes of Sikaflex so maybe it's my best option.

Thanks for the replies. I saw a comparison between the Flex Tape and the Gorilla Tape alternative

Both seem to do more than I require as any leaks I have are not under pressure - the Gorilla Tape is about half the price of the Flex Tape.

No heating on so temperature inside should be the same as outside = no condensation (I think).

At some point in its history the rook had been coated is some sort of plastic paint coating, I've no idea what it was. When I first purchased the the van I decided to have it cleaned and gave specific instructions NOT to use a power washed, of course, when I returned to the van they were using a power washer on the roof!! Much of the 'plastic' came off in small sheets, small amounts of water did get into the van but that was only to be expected, that was in July 2021, I would guess any remaining in the roof would have gone. What I'm left with looks a mess on the roof with very little clue where any leak might be!
