..bang, lovely chip in the windscreen, like a spider! Bigger than a 5p and right in the middle of the screen!

I know its beyond a repair but...

a) anyone done a temporary repair to stop it getting worse with one of the kits you can get from the likes of halfords
and
b) are there reports of difficulties getting windscreens for Peugeot boxers? I know A class owners have issues but as this cab is a white van mans friend surely it's readily available?

Still a week of hols left too.

I'd it's a big standard van you should not have an issue

I had a long conversation with my insurance ref windscreen cover, they wanted to cover mine fir a silky large amount like £1000s
Its a whooshbang checked prices and they are a few £100 fitted.

Autoglass or a local independent will come out and repair it

Get parked up and go a Google, you'll be fine

Hi.
Auto windscreens ? " Belper ? " Derbyshire. Proper outfit If you are near Belper,i will try and find the correct na me and number..
Rang our insurance people ( I think it was " Comfort " ) as This firm could do it straight away, even coming onto the site and asked if i could use them as they were not the reccomended fitters. Told them the name checked up and said " Let them do it.
Let me know if i have to dig deep into " Lost info ".

With Comfort the limit is £3000 if not approved by them but unlimited with their approved companies, Auto Glass & Nationwide Windscreens.
£3k is a bit tight on a lot of A Class's.

Last year we had a stone chip slightly bigger than a pound coin, right in the middle of the screen but not line of sight.

We got it 'repaired' by (I think) Autoglass or something similar.

thanks all, quite reassuring, i've contacted autoglass and they will apparantly ring tomorrow morning. Hope they can fix it while we are away, that would be brilliant if they can.

They'll also come to a supermarket carpark or similar. They just need an address.

Mine passed its MOT but had something like fifteen small chips in it. The repair places said they wouldn't touch it with that many and I got Autoglass out to swap mine out.

Standard part and in stock. Came out the next day, it was very windy and the guy was on his own so he asked if I would take it to their workshop

If you have windscreen cover on your insurance then it will be covered (or at least part covered) on that normally. I had to pay some excess but can't remember exactly what the bill was now. It wasn't silly money though.

Just had a chip repaired at Halfords for £45. You can book a timeslot online.
Most insurance companies will fix a chip for free. Usually you just go to a place like Auto Glass and they sort it - no cost, no affect on your insurance premium.
