Dakar 2018

It must take it out of you standing on their bikes all day, knees must take a pounding.

I thought you were going to say you were doing it, I would have said “respect” my Mum liked watching it just for the scenery.

Shame it's only shown on Eurosport via Sky.

Would love to do it, but its a £75k commitment, by the time you have done all the qualifiers , and put yourself in a place to do it.

I have friends who have failed at the last hurdle (one for this years Dakar) reaching the qualification requirements, which must be brutal.

Respect to these boys, while i am envious of them getting the chance, i dont envy the work and the risk it takes to cross the start ramp.

Its hell of a commitment, just time wise if you take every thing into account.

Spent some of this afternoon on YouTube watching a film about the Malle Moto class made by Adventure Spec and the videos Lyndon Poskett is posting covering preparation for and competing in the 2018 event, worth subscribing to his YouTube channel if interested.

Dakar is mad, I love it. Not sure if Red Bull TV May also provide coverage in addition to Eurosport?

Our very own Saltash based rider JD paid the ultimate price out there early this decade, so sad.

All of Lyndons stuff is worth a watch , even if you arent into bikes.. its a travel vlog with a difference..

Raced with him in the past, his Rally stuff has been great to watch, and this year he has his own film crew, although he is in the Malle Moto class, which means no outside assistance. First stage goes live soon

That was sad .. i thought about him earlier, watching all the Moto guys go over the ramp, thinking that they may not all make it. But that is living , on your own terms.

Here's to a safe race

It's a shame to see last years winner and this years race leader, Brit Sam Sunderland go out on stage 4 with back damage.

Yeah, bummer for him, didnt even crash by all accounts.

:doh:watch till the end

Been watching Lyndon Poskitt's YouTube page, he's making a hard event even harder by doing the filming, good stuff though, his class 'Malle moto' sounds like a real adventure.

If you have a Roku or Amazon fire tv or Apple TV you will find it covered on the Red Bull channel.

Its been a great first week, a few injuries and a few surprises, loads of great racing and the top 2 bikes are 22 seconds apart, and the top 6 are within 10 minutes... Juan Barreda Bort won the stage before the rest day , after crashing and breaking his kneecap, 300km into the stage. French rider Xavier De Sultrait went out with knee and elbow injuries, and Sam Sunderland went out with a back injury without even crashing.

Lyndon Poskitt runs 2nd in Malle Moto, the zero assistance class, behind former MX GP rider Olivier Pain 46 mins adrift, which , if you follow the race, can be gone in no time.

Cars has been unreal , Loeb and Roma both crashed out, Desprey lost a load of time, and Peterhansel lost the lead after taking corner off...

Loads of spectator stuff all over YouTube that will keep you entertained for an hour or 12

Good racing and a good result for Lyndon Poskitt finishing second whilst filming his race.
