Hello All
Please forgive my ignorance but can anyone tell me does the Sat nav use the dab Ariel . I have a Xzent head unit in my Fiat Ducato and the Dab radio signal is awful . I am told this is due to the poor quality Ariel which is fitted in the side mirror . I wonder if I replace the dab Ariel with a screen mounted stick on , will it have any effect on the GPS signal that operated the Sat nav . As I say please forgive what may be a silly question but I am not technical at all .
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thank you All

No sat nav is GPS signal .. from sattelites in space.

Most likely your Sat Nav
firmware/ software, needs updating to identify the latest sattelite positioning, it is an awkward process .. Hhaa ha you'll have to read the radio/sat nav user guide.

I fitted a £13 gadget ..
FM and DAB signal amplifier booster.

Pull out radio , very easy to wire .. even for me who has no electrickery knowledge.

( Vecys Splitter 1 .. at Amazon £13 !)

Have gone from a pathetic 5 DAB stations to 75 odd and has 300% improved FM radio signal.

Good luck

The aerial in the mirror is FM, you will probably find a DAB adapter plugged into to aerial lead behind the unit a lot of them don't work very well.

Your best option is to fit a small DAB whip aerial on the roof with a ground plane.
The next best is an external screen aerial, they are a small whip aerial that sticks on the outside of the screen with a transducer that sticks on the inside of the screen, I fitted a JVC one for a friend it worked really well.
The internal screen aerials will work better than what you have but nowhere as good as the above options.

Having tried to improve dab reception on my Autotrail PVCs Xzent thingy, I have pulled it from the mounting.

The GPS aerial is separate from the DAB. GPS seemed to be somewhere hidden in the dash under the top passenger glove box. DAB was in mirror. GPS mostly OK.

I've ended up with a DAB aerial mounted on roof, with cables fed, with difficulty, above linings and down side pillar and through dashboard. It's better but still gets some drop out.

Realistically the DAB radio service coverage isn't brilliant in many areas and yet reception needs to be complete for correct decoding otherwise you get the underwater sound effects.
