D47p has not arrived for me to renew C1 (1 Viewer)

How can I renew my licence due next month without the D47p form.
Cannot get medical from my doctor due to Covid 19.

I have just sent off my D2 (from post office) and D4 from post office (old version) (fortunately had managed to download the newer version off D4drivers site.) Had a medical in town (Nottingham) last Saturday (arranged previous week) with D4drivers. Posted on Tuesday and DVLA signed for it on Wednesday. Now awaiting either return to sort out or new license.

If you are an HGV driver then you can get it sorted. Otherwise you are screwed. Just been through this with a good friend.

Looks like I might have to sell my S820 Hymer, and downsize , this would have been my 4th licence renewal, I will try with just the D2 and see how it goes. Mike.

The Covid problems won't last forever. I would just wait it out and get a medical once the doc's open again?

Can you tell me what a group 2 license is for please? I have AM, A, B1, B, C1, C, D1, BE, C1E, CE, D1E, and fklnpq. I don’t have a group 2. What does a group 2 entitle me to drive?

Group 1 drivers are those who hold a licence to drive a motor car and a motorcycle. Group 2 drivers are those who have category C and D on their licences. Category C is for large lorries and category D is for buses.

As I understand it when you apply to renew your C1 licence if you haven’t received it by the renewal date you can continue to drive providing DVLA haven’t told you not too. Just send in the forms that you have and see what happens. I think you could string along for some time like that.

D2 and D4 forms available from some post offices. But watch out that the D4 is the current one ( ?/20 ) the one I got from the PO ( ?/19 ) was an earlier one. You can run the D4 off from the DVLA website.
organised medical with D4drivers in 2 weeks time, so renewal should be ok. Even if the licence doesn’t come through, I will have taken copies, registered the postage etc so will be ok to drive.

Many questions asked in this thread.
First renewing your licence to drive. It seems all licences to drive are extended automatically for seven months if renewal date falls between 1st February and 31st August 2020. see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/dvla-coronavirus-covid-19-update.
Second Group 2 drivers are all those who have C1,C1+E, D1, D1+E entitlement on their licence. (grandfather rights)
Third D2 and D4 forms available from certain Post Offices but check that you get the latest D4 form dated 3/20 bottom right page one. Many post offices are still giving out old forms unaware that the latest form is different.
Forth Dfordrivers are still conducting medicals @ £55 per head (and presumably body too )
It is a good idea to get your sight checked before medical in order to have current prescription if required available for doctor who does your medical.

Had the medical on the Sunday, courtesy of D4Drivers. Sent off on the Monday, copies taken of course, email from DVLA on the Thursday saying received but could be a delay. Full licence came back about 2 weeks later. Minor beefs, doesn’t run from expirery of old licence, loosing about5 weeks and EU symbol! But hey, happy to be “ legal” anyway. Well done DVLA.
