Wantage.

Having a day out while Offgrid Power Solutions upgrade the van.

What lovely people; Roger, Nigel & Claire. Can’t wait to see the results later today, I hope that there is a noticeable difference off-grid afterwards 😜

And before anyone asks:
Currently have a 4-year old 80 amp lead acid battery & 100w solar panel, both working well for up to three days off grid with reasonable sun.

Swopping battery for 280 amp Fogstar Drift
Adding B2B
Adding 175w solar panel
Adding 12v 1200 inverter

Quite excited although Julie isn’t impressed yet (cost) but just like when we paid £5,200 for Amplo self levelling I know that she will be secretly pleased once we start using it 😉 🤞

On and off for many years.
I would always have self levelling on any van we get in the future.

No so sure about extra battery but then we never do much off grid and (shock and horror) we have a genny for emergency use only.

Last year we did 6 weeks in Scotland and the last 10 days without ehu. Both batteries were 100% every day, however, I didn’t take into account that we traveled every day.

Cue (our first) 3 months in Europe. After 3 days in one place, despite full sun every day, with a minor dust storm on day 3, we were down to 65% on day 4. That’s when I realised that our current set up was only good for continuous travel with very short stops in between without ehu.

The solar can't be doing much, mind it depends on what you're using 🤔
If the battery isn't fully charged at sundown on day 1 you'll know you're on a path to no good ☺️
