First of all i'm not complaining as some of the non ACSI sites can be over 40 euros a night, but I just thought i'd let people know that when using ACSI sites in Croatia you can expect to pay an additional 4 euros a night in Tourist Tax, admin or registration fees. I'd say 4 euros is the average but on some sites it can be more or less.

Croatia is quite popular at the minute, looks like they're determined to change that. Don't understand tourist tax, we avoid catalonia because they tax us for going

So does it still work out better to use acsi ?
I was in Croatia earlier this year and wasn't aware of a tourist tax.
Maybe it was just rolled into overall cost and not quoted separately ?
Some sites didn't accept ACSI but would offer a discount instead.
I found croatia good VFM, much more so than italy

Tourist tax is to pay for the municipal services that you use, sewage, waste disposal etc.

Do you also avoid France because every site has 'taxe de sejour' included somewhere, on ACSI discount scheme sites this is usually an extra, €4 seems a bit steep though.

They also add tax in some of Germany and Austria I’ve found. I’ve starred writing it in the book now. (y)

We only usually stop at Millau on the way to Spain. Some sites charge €1 some don't. Funny how southern Spain don't feel the need to tax you, the campsite should pay the water rates and council tax... It's their business, their land, not mine.

Tax will be included somewhere to pay for the municipal services that you use, even if it is not itemised.......unless you are a FLT of course and we all know how much they contribute to local economies:)

It's been my experience for many years that some form of tourist tax is charged through much of Europe but a lot of Croatian sites are more upfront. Using ACSI will not normally alter the tax situation. I found this year that I often got better prices using Camping Key Europe card.

I believe its always cheaper to use ACSI sites. As I've said before on this forum we went 4 years using the card without coming across tourist tax. It wasn't charged in the early days of ACSI. The other point I've raised is you can be on one site and be charged a tourist tax then you can drive down the road a few hundred metres to another ACSI site or stellplatz and you won't pay the tourist tax.
