Credit cards in Belgium?

Though we were able to use our (French) credit card without any problems for fuel, both diesel and food, there seem to be a lot of establishments where credit cards are unwanted including the vet in De Panne (not for us of course).

Had no problem with credit cards in Belgium lately but no acsi site in Germany would take them.
