Step in question is on a 2018 Autosleepers panel van conversion. Think it’s a Project 2000 sliding step about 15 inches wide. Been away for awhile and the step now creaks when it’s stepped on. As far as I can tell the fixings to the van are sound and the noise is within the box. When open I can wiggle it up and down a fraction but never tried this before so don’t know if it’s new. Has anyone else had this and is the step waiting for an opportunity to collapse? Thanks

Mine just collapsed no warning but when it was repaired I was told it was a bit gritting .I had not washed it before the repair and it's often on gravel
Check the bolts there is a small metal surface around them.
He did both sides of mine even though only one side failed ĺ

Are far as I can see all bolts and metal intact. Have opened step and given innards a good squirt of silicone spray. Now working very smoothly and without any creaking. Probably have to wait for proper summer weather to see how it reacts to water. Regarding previous comments we had just come from the Black Forest and it’s almost obligatory to eat the local specialty- several times for comparison purposes only

Need to lubricate mine. Do you have to drop the step to open it. tia.

Opened the step and from underneath there’s a gap of 20mm or so. I just used that to give the innards a really good dose with silicone spray
