COVID Jab done

really encouraging to hear so many people getting 'Jabbed' and happy to do so, just get annoyed when people refuse it !!!!! their choice, but still think if you turn it down just to be awkward you shouldn't be treated if you get it. My mum ( 92) still can't get hers ( Burnley) think that is disgusting.
I will be refusing it unless its absolutely mandatory for travel.

It should be my decision , vulnerable and at risk should by all means be vaccinated if they choose but as it will require a vaccine every year like the flu jab that isnt given to everyone it should be a choice.

Im not keen on a rushed through vaccine , especially as its still only a year since this virus started.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but having had relatives affected their whole lives as a result of vaccines that went wrong im also entitled to mine.

I dont believe anyone refuses to be awkward ...they most likely have their own legitimate reasons

So sorry that you have the after effects of a bad vaccine and yes we are all entitled to our opinion, however.... Ha... if you can't travel then you will have it???????, ....... I do believe that this vaccine is being introduced by very clever scientists for all the right reasons across the world and yes there will be an occasional sad case but..... lets just hope that you cannot travel without the vaccine as I would hate to get on a plane where someone has been allowed on and could potentially infect several hundred people.

Well for one thing i wont be on a plane

But

If everyone thats vulnerable and at risk is vaccinated then really what risk is there to those not at risk?

At somepoint in the future that willbe the approach because there will be constant variants and mutations and unless the world is going to carry on with lockdowns then free for alls and vaccines to every person every year there is no way out 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thats why people need to start focussing on how many have recovered instead of concentration on deaths

Greece publishes their figures broken down in to ages etc

From what i read somewhere but cant find the link out of 110000 deaths in the uk less than 60 have been under the age of 50

Protect the old the vulnerable and the at risk .....
This time next year we will be on lockdown 8 or 9

Another point on forced vaccines to travel is this

Im 47 ...the way things are going i wont be offered a vaccine for 6-8 months

So all the older more vulnerable people being vaccinated now will be free to travel willy nilly under the illusion of invincibility ....whilst those younger and less at risk wont be

Call me a pessimist but thats not going to end well.

Had my AZ jab yesterday, 2 miles from home at a nearby surgery. And by chance, administered by a GP.

Done in a flash - didn't even sit down.

Coat off and all over in less than 5 seconds.

And I've got a badge to prove it...

Booked 30 April for the next one. :giggle:

All brilliantly organised. (y)

Both 'done' last Sunday (31st Jan) me 72 Mrs R 70. Simple system, text from GP with website link, follow link and verify DOB then choose day and time from those available on screen. Both booked ten minutes apart on Sunday afternoon. Slight wait on the day but very professional system. Per booked automatically for the second jab on the 19th April which is marked on the card that we were given.

Throughly respect your choice.

Two points:
Vaccine underwent same trials as any other... just the phases were run concurrently rather than consecutively.
As more people are vaccinated (11 million in the UK alone so far), the effective test data rises exponentially.

You're young... if you're in the under 50's group, your risk is minimal.
Once the over 60's are vaccinated that covers 98% of the at risk groups.

Your protection comes from everyone else being vaccinated

Mine took 40 minutes... 10 mind waiting on arrival, 15 mins with the nurse answering questions and being jabbed and 15 mind mandatory post-jab observation time.

Wow - mine was absolutely nothing like that.

Which jab did you have? AZ or Pfizer?

The Doc rattled through a few questions as I was slipping my coat off. Then the deed was done in the following moments and I was on my way without further ado. :giggle:

are you in the same group?
Yes, if I had booked online it was not possible to get the appointments together, given the centres and appointments offered.

Pfizer. I had guessed I'd be there for 20 minutes in total and was hoping for 5.

I had mine on Thursday, 4 weeks behind himself. Neither of us were given a date for our second one.

Just heard the vaccines minister on the Marr show say that yesterday, between 11am and mid-day, on average, almost 1000 people across the UK we're jabbed EVERY minute!

Impressive. (y)

Ah - I had the cheap shot and you got the expensive one. :giggle:

That maybe explains the different experiences.

Well the pre-jab amuse-bouche were excellent, the steaks cooked to perfection, the sommelier chose excellent wine for me and the waiters were very attentive but the valet was a little slow so I could only give them 4 stars on TripAdvisor ;)

We both have ours scheduled for tomorrow. About 6 weeks earlier than was first forecast by the NHS.
Both had the jab this morning. Temporary drive through facility set up by the NHS on a large car park on a business park not far from the surgery. HNS staff admirably assisted by lots volunteers directing traffic every step of the way. No need to leave the car, I think they were managing to do 4 jabs at a time, really slick operation. A Big thanks to all concerned.

24 hours on
I have after effects at all
elaine had a slight headache this morning no other side effects
not even a sore arm
very surprising I did except something after all reports on social media and in press

We both also had the jab today (woolpit) very efficient, apparantly they completed 2000 today. Not bad for a little Suffolk village?

How many in first group ?
No idea, will depend on population in each area.
If one vaccine area has 10000 over 70s and another has 5000 over 70s it stand to reason the area with 5000 will have vaccinated all well before the area with 10000.
They aren't going to sit twiddling ther thumbs waiting for the others to catch up..... They will instead start on the next group.
A postcode lottery.

Nice one, I wish they would do households at the same time though, makes sense to me 🤔
Our age difference is not big, 6 years, but it puts me two age groups after my husband, I sat and waited in the car for him when he got his jab, and he will do the same for me, I wish we could have gone in together.

I am a bit of a wimp. :imoutahere:

Is there any documented evidence of that.
Many childhood vaccines, for example, are a one off jab
Have you not listened to any of the scientists? This virus is here for life ...just like the flu it we have to learn to live witu it . You'll be getting a vaccine every year

postcode lottery, UM? if all the old codgers with huge pensions did not decide they wanted to live in lovely seaside resorts the older more vulnerable would be more spread out throughout the country and there wouldn't be huge numbers in the likes of Christchurch needing if first.

We just all have to be patient is all, because the immuno suppressed exceedingly clinically vulnerable people cannot be vaccinated, neither can anyone who has tested positive within the last 4 weeks. So even when we've achieved enough herd immunity to be allowed out to play again - we still shouldn't let our guards down entirely.
Not sure of your comment. My condition means I am immuno suppressed and because of this it is recommended that I be Vaccinated which in fact I was yesterday.

I had mine on Wednesday, the Pfizer one, it took about 20 mins in total, the setup was pretty efficient, most people being vaccinated appeared to be about my age (mid 60's) and have some kind of disability ie walking stick or in a wheelchair. No real side effects to mention, maybe just a little tired that evening. Looking forward to the next one, my bit of paper said it could be between three and twelve weeks depending on availability.

Just one of many

Im afraid as grim as it is people need to realise that a vaccine is not an end to this nightmare. And doesn't mean you wont catch the next strain.

Well most of the houses where we live are holiday homes so I am optimistic they will get to me soon, hopefully

eg people getting chemo currently or very recently, others on longer term immuno suppressant drugs, each depending on which drugs and what for,

Obviously each of us listen to the recommendations of our own medical team - some individuals were deliberately excluded from the lists compiled by the NHS for these reasons.

We had ours a couple of weeks ago. I found it a bit disconcerting queuing with people ignoring social distancing and having to wait 15 minutes in a hut with dozens of others.
I haven't been that close to so many people for nearly a year.
