Hi please could you recommend a cover for my motorhome which is a Bailey Autograph 2018 model, as I am unsure which one to use.
Kind regards Dave.

Personally, I wouldn't as one of my preserved vehicles, that I had to store outside, deteriorated more with one than the other without.

Covers can cause damage by chaffing the paintwork/finish as they shift in the wind. They may also block the motorhome’s built in ventilation. Do you have a particular reason for wanting to cover your motorhome?

Hi, you are in the right place for a whole range of different opinions.

And for a different opinion:

A cover was the best thing I did, but only after the decals were totally trashed, the headlights were sun damaged and windows started to craze, this was after 4 years outside.
Corrected the damage (around €1500), chucked a full cover over and no more problems for the next 5 years.

I got a full cover that had a protective layer inside and was certified hail and winter proof, it´s worth a few hundred quid to keep the pride and joy safe, any damage the cover might inflict is minimal compared to not having a cover.

If you don´t go for a full cover then a cab cover would be the minimum (protect the front skuttle, it´s a weak/leak point on Ducatos).

For a few hundred quid, you could buy one of those green material, aluminium framed temporary garages. Then not only covered but workable in the rain. 😄

Motorhome covers are best described as a bit Marmite on here however if used on a freshly washed motorhome & secured well then the Maypole breathable ones are excellent (see our experience here https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/winter-covers-for-motor-homes.180115/#post-2934348 ) & generally last around 3 years. Specialised Covers -Broken Link Removed- are a popular but much more expensive option.
Searching on the forum will bring up lots of feedback both positive & negative.

I've never used one on my van.

My brother put one on his VW T5, very tightly wrapped. He went travelling, so it wasn't going to be used for a year. It did cause some minor paint damage on the corners.

I used to put a cover on my motorbike, which are a similar construction. It was good for security. But it frequently wasn't clean and dry underneath. Add some wind to cause it to move around and it caused the fairing plastics and the windscreen to go hazy where it rubbed.
