Does anyone have any recommendations?

Many thanks.

We use a couple of heat resistant silicone mats on the table, worktop/glass hob cover (when cool) too but not a total covering which sounds like your preference. Ours are Colapz brand in grey but lots of other makes, colours & sizes available from other sellers.

These are good for made-to-measure table covers https://www.wipeeasytablecloths.com/ but offer little protection other than for general wear & tear. We have their oilcloths for dining table at home.

Don't understand the problem.

Why anything special and not just a tablecloth as at home, with mats on top if dishes hot?
not really a problem I just don't like loose table cloths particularly as they are prone to moving around, it's not just heat protection it's protection from kids scratching table when colouring etc.

Heat stop cut to size, available from Dunholm Mill and other outlets. Gives protection from heat or scratches etc.

Vinyl flooring ... get an offcut and it should allow you to do some covers for your table and other stuff you need to protect or want to look better, eg on the cooker/sink lids to protect them when preparing food etc, on outside tables etc.

Try this

Amazon product ASIN B002WHY86G
Sorry about the long link - basically same as what my mom had on her dining table, the tablecloth went straight on top of it at mealtimes and the fleece side obviously protected the table, whereas the brown side certainly was waterproof plus could be cleaned with a soapy cloth.

Like that - thank you :) Should give extra protection if anything drops out of the cupboards above the dinette table so maybe a wise option.
For anyone interested it is available in cream & grey too https://www.karinahome.co.uk/collections/table-protector & in various sizes.

We bought a roll of clear thick PVC from John Lewis and cut it to shape to match the top of the table. It tends to stick to the surface a bit so does not move. It was about 1.3m wide and they sell it by the metre. I think this is it on their website

It does not stand up to a lot of heat though. OK for a cup of tea etc but would need protecting from hot pans or casseroles.

We just use that anti slip mat on the table tops, avoid an odd dent and does help things from sliding off.Got ours from the local camping shop, it's blue and slightly tacky, sort of soft and spongy.
