Councils urged to remove ‘short-sighted’ motorhome and campervan parking bans

“Councillor John McMillan said: "While it is no surprise that people are attracted to our beautiful beaches, these are wild spaces, and the majority do not have the infrastructure or facilities of a formal campsite."

Says it all really - no idea about the concept of an ‘aire’ compared to a ‘formal campsite’. It would be council money well spent to send him and others like him with such blinkered views on a fact finding tour to France - assuming of course they don’t already have vested interests to protect! ;)

I reckon they get enough freebies..BUSBY

This is the problem when you talk to councillors they have
A/ No Idea of what a motorhome REALLY is
B/ No idea of what an aire/area actually needs
C/ even if they have no interest in camping sites they do not have the interest to find out

I have tried in Derbyshire to get them to allow motorhome Parking al á Parking in France and Spain first it was it's not my responsibility until I found whose it was then the cloth ears came out and it was so difficult - basically it was something new and they didn't want or need something new

Even the explanation of how much us motorhomers spend per night fell on deaf ears they had no interest in local business thriving they thought Campsites offer what we need even after WEEKS of explanations
