Council survey re motorhome overnight parking at Lytham.

So, what observations have you all made? I think it's a backward step to reduce numbers of available spaces, I would rather the time of stay be limited to 24 hours and no return within 72 hours.

If the cost goes up people will just park on the streets again like they used to do.
The price went up this year already, any more and it wont be worth paying, there are plenty of on street parking for free.

Done.
Having seen the ridiculous situation at the swimming pool which has been overrun with motorhomes making it worse than any jammed packed French Aire I suggested that the number of vans at each carpark was strictly " policed"

Completed, and thanked the authority for embracing motorhomes!

Quite agree. Our standing was tarnished a bit here.

Your intent to reduce the number of spaces may prove counter productive as motorhome ownership is a growing trend. It may be better to reduce the length of stay to 24 hours within 72 hours during peak periods so the number of spaces stay the same but the numbers of potential users are increased. That could be fluid during off peak season and increased accordingly to 72 hours within 120 hour period. It may be better to control the availability/resource of parking of motorhomes rather than reduce the availability/resource, that way you can encourage more visitors during off peak periods

Reducing the number of motorhome spaces may only move parking to other areas that are uncontrolled. I would prefer to see the time limited to 24 hours and no return within 72 hours at peak periods rather than reduce the spaces available, you could also consider the following

A pre booking service only. That way you can control the numbers at any given location and at any time of the year. Registration numbers of vehicles can be recorded and used to police authorised pre booked use.
Additional spaces at other car parks where public transport is available or terminates
Encouraging the use of Local Authority owned parking areas at civic buildings, community centres, parish halls etc to be used for Saturday night parking only (limited to 24 hours)
Encouraging other resource owners to offer limited number parking (up to three motorhomes) ie church halls, to be operated and controlled by LA if necessary by pre booking only (again limit length of stay to 24 in 72 )

There is a French operated company who run parking areas for motorhomes, who are looking to move into the UK market. Perhaps you could consider working with them? Their areas (or Aires) are fully automated and also operate on a pre booking process.

Lastly I would like to thank you for taking the opportunity to consider the views of users of your facilities and for their provision in the first place.

Love this place. So handy with the grandkids 48 hours usually ok for me and access to the beach is great. Would be nice if there was a bit more overnight spaces for the smaller vans. I’ve parked on the designated bays with a 7.5 metre van with no problems apart from an irate van owner who thought they owned they place (long story). It is a very busy spot. But then overnight it does empty out

Thanks Sue, form submitted.

Done, with reference to the provision of Aires/Stellplatz throughout Europe and the positive effect for the local economy.
Ditto
