Yes, thank you
A question for you technical bods, we have recently changed wifi provider from Three and changed to another provider, they did not want the router returning that operated with a three sim card in. We have sufficient battery power and an inverter, if I got a sim card, data only would it work in the motorhome or do you think it would be locked into Three? Would taking the sim out of my phone (Lebara) be a way of checking if it would be unlocked or is there any other way of checking if it is unlocked?.

I believe Lebara use the Vodafone network so give the SIM a try in the router. That is the easiest way to see if it is locked or not.

Companies haven't been locking handsets for around three years since Ofcom told providers to stop so I would assume the router would also not be tied to a network either.

I doubt it'll be a locked router, they haven't done that for years - what router is it (make/model)?

For mobile use you would be better using a mobile router rather than a mains router and having to leave your inverter running just for that.

Thanks for the replies its a ZTE router that works off 5v via a transformer plug I will give it a try sometime in the week

Is it a ZTE mobile router/MIFI, with a USB type power socket? - if so it wont be locked - I use an ex Vodafone one on an EE sim plugged in to a USB socket/supply that runs straight off our leisure battery.

I did use one of the hacks on youtube to check the bands it was set to in case vodafone restricted it but was set to all.

Even if the router does not have a usb type connection, it probably runs on less that 12v, so still worth replacing the mains psu with a dc to dc converter to power it from the leasure battery.

Tried it and its knackered it wont pick up a 4/5g signal which was one of the reasons we changed from three as the signal kept breaking and the technical depot were adamant the unit was not faulty. never mind worth a try.
