Cough,Cough... Erm....

We’ve just spent the last 2 weeks on THS’s in Norfolk, But even they are going up in price.
The Happisburgh THS was £8.50 per night and the steward said regulars weren’t happy because it was going up to £11 next year, which is a lot to stay on a field that’s had the long grass just cut, luckily the stewards had a rack you could borrow to clear your area.
When searching I noticed THS in Wells next the Sea was £13.50 per night, so we didn’t stay there.

Is it the land owner who put the price up? Probably.

But if everyone parked as they wanted rather than what they were told it wouldn't work. The club/ site's legal liability would be in threads

I had my awning bit on one side and a car park bit on the other...

I had neither of these with me... so plenty of room each side..

I said in a previous post... about 2 foot out of square to the number/post...

Doubt it was even 2 foot...

Inflation is coming and organisations are raising prices just ordered some glazing bars and the manufacturer was raising prices that midnight by 16%.

Food prices are rising as have/are building material costs so why would campsite fees not rise when the owners core costs also be rising. ( even MoHofun has announced a modest rise in membership fees)

I am aware of the behaviour of some of the old caravan clubs staff, which is why I am a Funster. I also accept that there are some wonderful CL sites. Does it really offend the eye so much that moving a few feet on the site you own as a member and have paid for twice can be seen as breaking some rules. Oh my!
This environment is what Old Mo is returning to, I guess this relates to the nature of his jokes.

I once rented a flat. The landlord visited one day and told me to immediately get rid of a portable gas heater I had in there . He said it was a fire hazard.

Jumped up little Sod?
What other companies have rules where you must reverse into a pitch and have your x corner against a white peg? Most other campsite manage their legal liabilities without such rules?

The ths in west bay was adjacent to a site, attached, same loos etc. They £11 more For their bit of field, comparable to time of year, as in high season, I think £14 pupn wasn’t a rip off. Checked on prices in st ives, £49 a night.

Since the travelling restrictions started we have been using C&CC sites more.

Can honestly say every warden we have met has been friendly and helpful, never been told about or seen a 'white peg'.

After a couple of away stays, which did not come up to expectations...

My dear wife has joined the (What was, Not sure what they call themselves now.) the Camping and Caravanning club of GB... (The friendly club).. (y)

£40 odd quid it cost... the reason is we would like to tour around and not be ripped off on site fee`s... Now...

Do they still send out a camp site guide like they used to 20 years ago.. Cannot see anything on their web site..

Or do they charge extra for the guide...

Used to love sitting planning out a route or holiday with the guide... Before the tinternet took over.. :frowny:

:thanks3:
There is an app for pop up campsites, we went to one in Pately and thoroughly enjoyed it

That's because the white peg is a rule which is applied to its visitors by The Caravan Club Limited, trading as The Camping and Motorhome Club.

We're on a THS at Birchington at the moment (in the battering down rain), it's £11 per night which is still loads cheaper than staying on a site at this time of year. It makes going away more cost effective.

Is that the one next to Quex Park and opposite what used to be the Two Chimneys site( or something like that)?

Yes, we are camped in front of the House on Quex Park, one of our favourites even though we're only 15 minutes from home.

We stayed here the last couple of days. Lovely site. Nice big pitches , separated by rocks or hedges and easy to understand the pitching rules.......that were strictly enforced.

It got more complicated if the door was on the ' wrong' side

The ap has all ready been mentioned and is the only option for digital members. The paper version is only available to paper members who specifically opt in else your stuck with the ap and was the reason for mentioning it.. Wouldn't life be a poor place without books, people with heads glued to phones 🙂

Yes but the magazine info is often well out of date by the time you get it, especially in these covid times.
The app is bang up to date.

I didn't know there was an app! Thanks for the heads up good people. Some great value camping to be had.

Absolutely agree about how friendly and helpful the warden are on C&CC sites but they have always pointed out the white posts and explained how we should park upon realising we have a “foreign” layout van have never insisted on which way round we should park, just that we should have the van parked against it.
