Don't own one yet
Morning all - I asked for your advice in buying our first Motorhome and have been looking at the above model. I have the option to buy one and they have sent me over all the service history. They were very upfront about the fact that the vehicle had had some re-welding done as part of it's most recent MOT (September) and I've attached the MOT certificate below.

It mentions the 2 repairs it has had done and there is one advisory for some more corrosion by the drive shaft. The oproice is very competitive but am I buying problems for myself? The idea would be to sell the vehicle on in the next couple of years. Is this sort of corrosion just what you'd expect on a 21 year old vehicle with 57k on the clock?

Help! We were very keen to buy but this has made me nervous....

Loads out there, walk away no rush and why not check or put an ad in the classifieds on here?

Yeah we aren't in a mad rush but this is a really good price and I'm trying to ascertain if this is to be expected on a vehicle of this age or not?

There is a limited choice of chassis, and any 21 year old chassis is likely to have corrosion.

We had a 2.8jtd bespoke exhibition unit built for us by Benimar in 2001, and it was used for motorhome shows half a dozen times a year

At about 10 years old and about 10k miles we had new sills, crossmember, and passenger floorpan replace for it MOT

It might be a good prices now but you indicated that you may want to sell it on in a couple of years. It will be worse by then and you will have very few peeps looking to buy a van with a corroded history.especially on the chassis. It will be difficult to repair again
As said walk away and look for another.

It's a shame the MOT certificate doesn't explain any corrosion in far more detail. My van failed it's MOT this year for 'structural corrosion'
When I queried with garage it was a drainage hole on one of the outriggers under the driver's step which had become enlarged. £50 for welding sorted it but it looks really bad on the MOT report and might put a future buyer off.
