Hi all. I need some info on my 1989 Hymermobile 2.5DT. Started her up today and engine temp just kept climbing. Usually hits 90 and stays there. All belts are fine, water pump reasonably new. Never had this problem in 15years of ownership. It seems like the thermostat has stuck closed. I would appreciate any info on thermostat type before going any further.

What time scale did this happen over? It should take quite a long time for the temp to rise to hot especially if not being driven.
So the question possibly is.

WAS the engine hot, or was the gauge reading hot?

it could be a failed sensor, or damage to its wire.

Hi. The engine was cold when started and left running for 30 minutes. i have done this regularly over the winter and temp shows 90. This time when I checked, the temp was way up towards the max and climbing with obvious overheating in the engine compartment.

The electric fan is by passed with a manual switch in the cab. I’m pretty Sure it’s the thermostat but I am hoping someone can supply me with info on it without removing first.
