Looking for recommendations for a small compact 12v / 240v cooler box that will chill my beer and wine right down in hotter climes …. the Dometic just doesn’t cut it imo.

The compressor ones are best. How much do you want to spend?

As with everything these days not as cheap as they were, one of these might tickle your fancy. Ive got the blue one probably gone up 40 odd quid from last year now £210 its been perfect.

Not to worried about the cost within reason of course , it’s the compactness I would want . The alternative is an ice making machine and a bucket 😂
Actually there's something to be said for ice cubes and a passive cool box. Ice cubes were about 90cents a kg in Benidorm, they lasted until the next morning and we kept some in the van's freezer too. The Chinese shops sell the cheapo coolboxes for about €10 👍

Absolute beginners.
We used an insulated bucket on a 3 week road trip around the U.S. Room fridges were sporadic, but all motels had a central ice machine. Topped it up in the evening, then again in the morning ready to hit the road.

I brought a dometic CFX35 for £320 off ebay and its been running non stop for the last year in the house or in the van either as a fridge or freezer.

Normally cool it in the house on 240v and when in the van just run it off the 12v cigarette lighter I've adding under the table in the kitchen bit of the autotrail

If I hadnt of brought the dometic I would of brought the vevor

Other end of the scale, we have a Dometic CX35, had it about 3 years now currently in France its full of frozen food at -18c not too bad on the batteries, the 240 volt only drops the power down to 12 volt so run direct off the batteries rather than through the inverter. Was around £700 but we use the van a lot

I have a dometic compressor cold box in the garage which will act as a freezer but it's heavy on battery usage. OK as a beer chiller at a higher setting though, which is what it's used for as swmbo has banned beer from the fridge. Food only there apart from her white or rose wine of course. I only drink red.
