Malibu 640
I finally got my van back last week after nearly 3 months waiting for the replacement steering rack. Good news - no steering issues now. Bad News is that the control panel is now not working, the panel is completely dead and I have no power to the any of the water systems. The lights and entrance step are working ok and I have put the van on charge. I have checked trip switch and all the fuses I can think of. Whilst the van was at the garage I had a nagging feeling that I had left the control panel switched on, could this have perhaps have burnt something out ? I am absolutely hopeless with electrics so am thinking of taking it to local repairers, but before doing that I'm wandering if there is a simple fix ? Any help much appreciated.

Leaving the control panel on shouldn't be a problem, like many I never turn mine off.

If you can see where it plugs in on the distribution unit, try unplugging it for a couple of minutes, when you plug it back in it may reset it's self.

It just says Malibu on the control panel. Sorry for my dimness but where am I likely to find the distribution unit ?

Don't know if its relevant, if I push the trip switch with the van plugged in it trips, but doesn't if not plugged in.

Have unplugged everything from the EBL and left it for a few minutes and sadly still not working.

Blue thing with fuses and wires, middle picture.
(It's called the Electrobloc or EBL)

Has it been switched off ?
(This would be standard practice in a garage)

Somewhere on the block there will be an on/off switch
Probably marked in German and French

ON = AN/SUR
OFF = AUS/DES(active) or ETE(indre)

Slightly of topic but did your Malibu come fitted with a complete engine under tray?
If it did then they obviously don’t stop water egress to the steering rack,

I think your panel is a Schaudt LT452
Very similar to ours - we can disconnect our panel from Electrblok on Block 6 -
Might be possible that the panel is not dead -
When you turn the panel on - you will probably get the indicator lamp showing it is on - It is possible this lamp is not working - but is still powering up the panel OK
Ours had this fault and could not be repaired by Apuljak - new one required = try turning it on normally and see if everything is working ok -- possibly media indicator lamp on the panel will light up -? showing panel is on. Hope this might help you diagnose the fault

Thank you every one, I will try all of the suggestions.
No it didn't come with a complete tray, only a partial one. I never found out what the cause of the problem was as the receptionist didn't know and unable to speak to anyone else.

A few years ago on the German Carthago forum there was a lot of discussions about the control panels failing and I think they put it down to having them turned on while starting the engine. So since I read that we always turn the panel off and not had any issues, probably wearing out the on off button though 🙄

Variation on the above.
The big black plug/cable on the top/right of the EBL unit is the power cable.

Can you follow this cable along to the end?
Is there an on/off switch somewhere in the middle or the other end of the cable?

Maybe stating the obvious but have you measured the leisure battery?
Sufficient power and no fuse blown or does everything else 12v work?

And another variation of the above.
That power cable that goes into the EBL is a conventional 'Kettle Plug'
If you plug something that needs a kettle socket (like say.... a kettle)
If you are plugged in the mains via your EHU, then the kettle should switch on.

The sockets are working, lights, step and spark for hob on 12v, but not fridge or taps on either 12v or EHU

Update- I have spoken to the Fiat Professional garage that replaced the steering rack. They have said that the wiring loom was replaced at the same time which would have involved taking out the passenger seat, they have booked me in on Friday to take the seat out again and check if anything dislodged. Fingers crossed. Very pleased with their service.
