To many to mention
We are looking to purchase a Motorhome for our daughter & family and have seen one advertised by Motorhome Depot. I am thinking ideally we are purchasing a private sale with the Motorhome Depot Rep doing the sales pitch to save the owners the bother. My question is I believe the Rep will have added his commission which makes a private sale more expensive. If we purchase through a dealer we would have a warranty, but not sure we would have any come back with problems through Motorhome Depot. Has anyone sold through Motorhome Depot and what percentage do they add to the asking price & has anyone that purchased through them been able to get a reduction on the price advertised. Looking forward to your reply.

I am selling via MHD. We told them what we would accept for the van and they have added their commission to that. They have what amounts to exclusive selling rights for 3 months.

Our van comes with warranty from MHD (not sure if that is extra or how good it is) and MHD can arrange finance. Buyers pay for the van into an escrow account and we get the money when the deal is completed so all parties are covered.

We are selling through them as when we sold our last van we had many "tyre kickers" and I can't cope with that again. This way the people who come to see the van will be interested at least.

Our van went on their site on Thursday (15 Feb 2024) so anyone buying quickly might get a discount for a quick sale / cheeky offer but we will be sticking to the minimum price we want and leave negotiations to MHD.

I wonder if the MHD agent took a cut in commission or the discount was taken from the seller?
I don’t know. I had the discussion with both the agent, and the owner at the time I viewed the van, I also put conditions on the purchase. I then stepped outside the van for them to discuss.

I've had a ball park figure off MHD for mine that's not a million short of what i will be expecting.
I will contact Simon when i'm ready.
Whomever offers the most for my pocket will get my van.
What they do with it or how much for i will not be bothered or interested.
EDIT : that's of course if Simon want's to make an offer.

A franchise for Motorhome Depot costs 40K so I imagine they would need to add a fair slice of commission to every sale! I used AMC in Hailsham a few years ago and they charged a flat fee of £1000
