Talbot express 1994
I'm not yet fully decided but I have seen an immaculate 1994 Talbot express 1994 2l petrol autosleeper which I am considering I like the retro look but would like honest opinion is it worth while pursuing. Are they still holding their value and for £8995 is this overpriced.
There are a few corrosion issues on mot advisories but nothing major. Are they really very sluggish and very poor mpg

Ours was actually called the "Slug" it was an 92 Auto-Trail on a Talbot. Took it all over Europe, overloaded by at least 1 ton. The mountains were slow-going up and scary coming down. We have nothing but happy memories of it.

I tend to have fairly old motorhomes, however I think that 1994 is getting on a bit and spares maybe an issue.

Be careful.

Hard to get your head round that 1994 is thirty years ago , seems like yesterday to me .

Lyn and I bought our 1998 Talbot Express Autohomes Highwayman new for £14,900

It drove well, and took us and three small boys to Italy a week later

Started a lifelong love so must have been good

+1 for this link, my two previous vans were Talbots and I used this forum extensively.

Re parts, they are out there but you need to know where to look.
The guys in the link always give sincere advice.

Expect circa 24mpg
At that price in my experience it should be in mint condition with no advisories for rust

I had a 1989mine was diesel. Hard to find in the Uk without rust.
For spares ; No;1Gear in Chard ,Somerset.

You can easily modify the steering ,if it has no power, to electric for about 150 quid using corsa B steering column & online controller.
I never found the unassisted steering a problem though.

If it is in good condition ,especially underneath, the price isn't out the way.Here in spain a decent,original national one, will now easily cost around 15k euros

I never found the unassisted steering a problem though.

If it is in good condition ,especially underneath, the price isn't out the way.Here in spain a decent,original national one, will now easily cost around 15k euros

The only comment I can make is we had a Kontiki many years ago with 2ltr petrol engine and its umph was dire..
When on motorway you followed the lorrys because the minute you tried to overtake as soon as you hit the bow wave the lorry was pushing out you went no further because the van did not have enough power to break through so you were left with no option other than slide back in behind and follow him...

Only done 11k miles 2006 - 2022 then 16k in a year....needs explanation

Oh dear. Looks like it's been left standing for some time. Does this relate to change of ownership.
If it was sold and then used a lot thus would explain high milage
Are there any servicing repair documents/receipts

Even if there were sorry I wouldn't

We had ours from 2013 to 2016.

The only repair( or improvement) we did to it was a new engine battery tray
