Hi Funsters. I have a project in mind which would involve changing the 3 way fridge to a normal under counter fridge. Has anybody got any idea how much power in Amp hours a fridge would consume. ie, how long would a lithium battery last running such a fridge ?

Typical Fridge/Freezer? not much change out of 50Ah/Day on a 12V system. Simple Fridge, maybe 35Ah? add in all the other loads you will have ... lights, USB chargers, fan on heater etc .... if you are talking about a 100Ah Lithium, you would be hard pushed to last a weekend with no charging. If you have solar, then in summer you should get enough to make up the draw.

I run a 240v fridge with separate freezer via a dedicated inverter, summer total around 35/45 amp per 24 hrs winter 20/25amp day..these figures will obviously vary with ambient temp/contents opening door...the good thing about all compressor fridges is they use most power when the weather is hot which is when solar production is at its best

Our 90lt Dometic compressor fridge/frezzer uses between 30 & 40 ah per 24hrs Obviously closer to 40ah/24hrs in hot weather.
You do not state the capacity of your lithium battery. But if it helps... I have 280w of solar, which keeps on top of the fridge consumption indefinitely during the solar harvesting season. 280ah of LifePO4 keeps it running when there is no solar to harvest for a week or so.

We have a Fogstar 230 AH drift battery

Just.for clarity, by 'normal under counter' do you mean a 240V fridge run via an inverter or a 12V compressor?

240 volt everyday type.

Be aware that Compressor Fridges have a large in-rush current each time it starts up. So you need an inverter that is large enough to cope with that ~800W surge rather than just one that can deliver the ~50W running power. (Important to consider if buying an inverter specifically for the Fridge).

My 240v first table top now fridge freezer both ran fine on the 650 w inverter, both 50w . ..but if in doubt go big subject to overheads

It is a bit frustrating if getting an inverter just for a fridge to have to buy one to cope with a high current that is there for less than 0.02% of the time, but it is what it is. For something that is left on 24/7 and often unattended, I like to use a top-quality inverter I can trust and stick with the Victron ones.
On a process of trial and error, I found anything under the 12/500 too small; the 12/500 model would always overload on each Compressor start but the peak power was enough so it would generally cope, albeit with a shudder, but WAS too small for some fridges; the 12/800 was probably the best option as big enough to cope without complaint.
I decided after a few years to not bother with a dedicated Fridge inverter and just have a Multiplus drive the fridge while providing all other AC loads. More cost effective if a little less efficient.

I used a dedicated £45 650w for two years never got above just warm still works fine, but As I had a spare 2kw and it has the same overheads I now use it and have a 2kw for everything else..only on when in use,so actually have 4kw if needed, with 640ah lithium and max current of 400amp.Also have a WiFi high temp alarm in the fridge...messages my phone
